CBS Radio zaps more positions, this time in Chi-town.
New York and Philly are down to two general manager positions (to save money?) with some former GMs now operating at the GSM level. On Friday, that wave hit Chicago. It starts with 17-year WXRT (93.1) and "Score" WSCR (670) general sales manager Dan Richman leaving. SVP/Market Manager Rod Zimmerman says "Dan has done a great job and we wish him nothing but the best in the future." Then Rod says "with that change, we are announcing a realignment in our management structure at the Score, WXRT, B96 and Jack." He's not kidding. One GM is bumped back, and that's onetime rising star Paul Agase. He goes from managing adult alternative WXRT and the Score to being the GSM at the Score. Going forward - both WSCR and WXRT will report directly to Zimmerman. Rod already directly manages all-news WBBM (780). But he "will turn the management of B96 [WBBM-FM] and Jack [WJMK/104.3] over to Peter Bowen, who will continues as DOS [for the cluster] as well." It's unclear whether Bowen will take a "GM" title at B96 and Jack. Meanwhile - Rod says "Dave Robbins continues oversight of [country US99.5] WUSN and Fresh [WWFS/105.9] while leading the programming efforts of all seven stations."
