NPR Debuts 'Mix Your Own Podcast'

WASHINGTON -- December 18, 2008: NPR is set to launch a new online feature this week that will let listeners create customized podcasts through NPR's Application Programming Interface.

To use "Mix Your Own Podcast," listeners go to either NPR.org or the podcast directory at www.npr.org/podcast, or they can go directly to the API Query Generator. There they can choose from a lineup of more than 130 topics or find content from their favorite stations and reporters.

The new offering is designed to complement NPR's existing lineup of hundreds of podcasts and the titles it distributes through iTunes. NPR serves more than 14 million podcast downloads each month and has distributed 300 million podcast downloads since August 2005.
