Trib biz boss Jim Kirk to join Bloomberg News D.C. bureau
Jim Kirk, the Chicago Tribune's associate managing editor of business news, is leaving the newspaper to join Bloomberg News' Washington bureau, overseeing coverage of the White House and Congress as its government team leader.
The Tribune did not immediately name a successor.
Kirk, who grew up in south suburban Dolton, joined the Tribune in June 1997 as a marketing and advertising writer. He served as a columnist and business editor before his appointment to the business section's top job in February 2005.
A graduate of Illinois State University, Kirk previously was a columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times and Midwest managing editor for Adweek magazine.
