Comcast SportsNet Chicago on Tuesday announced the hiring of local sportscaster Sarah Kustok as its newest on-air talent member for the network's nightly sports news program, SportsNite.

The announcement was made by Charlie Schumacher, Senior News Director for Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

Kustok, who will begin her on-air duties at Comcast SportsNet on January 5, will primarily handle feature reporting duties on SportsNite covering a variety of Chicago's professional, collegiate and high school sports stories, along with occasionally co-anchoring the program.

SportsNite airs live nightly at 6:30 p.m., 10 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and midnight featuring the on-air team of Pat Boyle, Mark Schanowski, Chris Boden, Gail Fischer, Chuck Garfien, William Jackson, Josh Mora and Luke Stuckmeyer.

"We are very pleased to bring someone of Sarah's experience and local sports enthusiasm to our network," said Schumacher. "Providing the very best live, local sports news coverage on a daily basis continues to be our focus and Sarah will be a terrific addition to our already solid on-air team."

Currently the co-host of Comcast SportsNet's popular Beer Money sports trivia show, along with handling feature reporting duties for CSN's SportsNite: High School Lites, Kustok's additional, recent television work could be found on ESPN, where she was a sideline reporter for the national sports network's college and high school remote football telecasts, along with handling color analyst/sideline reporting duties for men's and women's college basketball.

She also recently worked for WFLD-TV in Chicago (Fox) as a fill-in weekend sports anchor and part-time reporter for the past two years and was the sideline reporter this past season for WPWR-TV's (My 50 Chicago) Major League Soccer/Chicago Fire telecasts.

Her prior TV work also included being a color analyst/sideline reporter for WTTW-TV in Chicago (PBS) and their boys/girls basketball "Game of the Week" telecasts, along with hosting/reporting for WPWR-TV's Illinois High School Association coverage.

Kustok, who grew up in the Chicago southwestern suburb of Orland Park, IL, attended Carl Sandburg H.S., where she was four-year varsity starter in both volleyball and basketball.

At Sandburg H.S., she was ranked as one of the top 30 seniors in the nation in basketball and was honored by being named the "Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year" in 2000.

She graduated with a degree in Communication/Media Studies from DePaul University in Chicago in 2004 and is on target to complete her master's degree from DePaul in Corporate and Multicultural Communication in March 2009.
