After nearly four months of announcer-free music, Chicago's newest adult-contemporary station is about to get some personality.
WCFS-FM (105.9), the CBS Radio outlet known as "Fresh FM," has signed its first on-air hosts for mornings and middays.
Starting Feb. 25, mornings will be hosted by Mike LeBaron, who was the No. 1 fill-in personality at CBS Radio country WUSN-FM (99.5) and earlier worked part-time at Bonneville International hot adult-contemporary WTMX-FM (101.9).
LeBaron, a native of McHenry County who grew up in Hebron, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and started in radio in northwest suburban Harvard. He also worked in Milwaukee, Madison and the Quad Cities.
Middays will be hosted by Lisa Greene, who's been working part-time at Bonneville rhythmic oldies WILV-FM (100.3) and hosted weekends at CBS Radio's former oldies WJMK-FM (104.3).
Afternoon and evening hosts are expected to be named soon.
"Having Mike and Lisa join the launch staff marks the next step in the evolution of Chicago's next great radio station," said Mike Peterson, program director of "Fresh FM" and US 99.5. He called them both "a perfect fit."
Targeted to female listeners, "Fresh FM" signed on in early November, replacing the male-oriented talk station WCKG.
In the latest Arbitron survey, it debuted in 28th place with a 1.4 percent audience share.
