Seven Questions with...
Bob Sirott
In this month's edition of "Seven Questions," we chat with Bob Sirott, host of The Noon Show, heard weekdays from 12 to 1pm.
1) You've had jobs from Chicago Tonight to NBC 5 to WGN Radio...tell us about some of your not-so-glamorous jobs when you were getting started in the biz.
One of the first assignments I had as an NBC page when I was a senior in high school was schlepping about fifty pounds of newspapers from the street up to the newsroom (then) in the Merchandise Mart. That newsprint is filthy stuff.
2) We always see you in ties around the station because of your evening TV gig...How many ties do you own?
I probably have about 250 ties...but about 200 of those are either out of style, or were always too ugly to wear on TV.
3) What would your final meal be?
Pizza, hot dogs, an Italian beef, and egg rolls.
4) What's your favorite song?
About 300 are tied for first ...but growing up listening to oldies from the 60's (as a teenager) my two favorites were always Spanish Harlem by Ben E. King... and Up on the Roof by The Drifters.
5) Where's your favorite place to be in Chicago?
My old neighborhood... Albany Park. Or any place downtown... the real downtown... south of the river.
6) Where's the most awkward place someone has recognized you?
Can't recall...but it would probably be during a fight with my wife someplace.
7) Who would you love to interview that you haven't yet?
Beatles producer George Martin. I've talked to Paul and Ringo and saw George in concert... but I'd love to talk to Martin.
