NPR's Simon, Tribune's Jackson among '09 Studs Terkel honorees

Scott Simon, host of National Public Radio's "Weekend Edition Saturday," has been named among the recipients of the 2009 Studs Terkel Media Awards, an annual honor "promoting journalism that matters" given by Chicago's Community Media Workshop.

Other recipients this year include Chicago Tribune reporter David Jackson, Chicago Reporter Publisher and Editor Alden Loury and Workshop co-founder and president Thom Clark.

The awards will be presented at a benefit March 11 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Additional Information can be found at www.newstips.org.

The Community Media Workshop, based at Columbia College Chicago, trains around 2,000 non-profit communicators annually and promotes their work.
