: Make room for an Audible Feast : January 30, 2009 | Chicago Tribune : --------------------------------- : Remember story time in kindergarten, when you and your fellow goldfish eaters were invited to hunker down on a fraying square of carpet arranged in a semicircle around your teacher and sit still for, oh, 15 minutes while he or she read aloud from a book? Those were the days. (Alternatively, for those of you who are thinking, "That was called nap time," move along.) WBEZ Chicago Public Radio is re-enacting for adults that faint glimmer of warm-and-fuzzy youth, replacing those frayed carpet squares with wine and cheese—or a sit-down dinner worth five Benjamins. Chicago Public Radio's annual Audible Feast features a power trio of the organization's storytelling stars: "This American Life's" Ira Glass, "Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!'s" Peter Sagal, and Scott Simon of NPR's "Weekend Edition" are slated to share an hour's worth of personal anecdotes (from memory, not picture books). The adult story time is preceded by your choice of a $75 meet-and-greet wine and cheese reception with the on-air personalities, or a $500 super-fancy dinner (and at that price, it better be).
