After a one-month search, Bob Uecker has a new broadcast partner.

Newsradio 620 WTMJ, the Milwaukee Brewers Radio Network flagship, and the Brewers have announced the hiring of Cory Provus as a radio play-by-play announcer and pre-game/post-game show host.

He will team with Uecker for the 2009 Brewers season and beyond.

Provus has previously served the Cubs Radio Network and WGN Radio as their pre-game and post-game host, doing one inning of play-by-play each game.

Before working with the Cubs and WGN, he was the voice of the University of Alabama at Birmingham's football, basketball and baseball teams while with International Sports Properties.

He served as that company's director of broadcast operations in Alabama.

Provus takes over the Brewers broadcast booth spot that Jim Powell owned for 13 seasons in Milwaukee.

Pat Hughes, who worked with Provus and Ron Santo on the Cubs'Radio Network, preceded Powell as Uecker's partner with Newsradio 620 WTMJ and the Brewers Radio Network from 1983 to 1995.

Provus graduated from Syracuse University, the same school that produced noted play-by-play announcers like Bob Costas, Marv Albert and Dick Stockton.
