Betty White Coming Home on March 15th

CHICAGO, Illinois - Press Release - February 13, 2009 - Betty White, one of television's most classic stars, will soon return home to celebrate her career during Women's History Month in a very classic setting.

"Brunch with Betty White in the Empire Room" of the Palmer House on Sunday, March 15th from Noon -2pm is a benefit for the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

"Betty White has had one of the most remarkable careers in television history", said MBC President Bruce DuMont. "Betty White has inspired women by her leadership in expanding the influence of women in broadcasting", he added.

The Chicago Chapter of American Women in Radio & Television is co-sponsoring the brunch and will coordinate the raffle and retain its proceeds.

"AWRT began its national organization in 1951. Coincidently, that is around the same time that Betty White's television career started. As one of the few women in television in the 1950's, Ms. White led the way for women to be a part of this emerging and growing industry. It is really an honor for the AWRT Chicago Chapter to be a part of her homecoming and celebration of Women's History Month. Bruce DuMont and the Museum of Broadcast Communications have been a long time supporters and partners of AWRT", said Angela T. Ingram, AWRT Chicago Chapter President and Vice President, Communications, Clear Channel Radio Chicago. "To be a part of this celebration is really a gift for our chapter and members."

White, a television legend, was born in Oak Park and she has won five Emmy Awards and was a 1995 inductee into the Television Hall of Fame. White is also known for her love of pets and her long-time activities on behalf of animals.

Melissa Forman, morning personality on WLIT-93.9 FM, will host the public Question-and-Answer session. ME-TV will provide highlights of her career, including clips of Life with Elizabeth, Just Men, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden Girls, Mama's Family, Match Game and Password as well as recent appearances on Boston Legal and My Name is Earl.

Tickets to "Brunch with Betty White" in the Empire Room at the Palmer House (17 East Monroe) are $50.00 each or $500.00 for a table of ten. Tickets include complimentary valet parking. Tickets can be ordered at www.Museum.TV or by calling (312) 822-0512.
