What started out as a joke and a parody of the latest Geico TV commercials has taken on a life of its own!
WGN-AM radio host Steve Cochran's Fruitcake continues to gain popularity. A fan voting contest named the fruitcake "Blago", but that soon faded away and it's now just called the Fruitcake.
The Fruitcake is getting more & more popular and now has its own Facebook page, Facebook fan page, website and blog. On these pages, you can see pictures of where the Fruitcake and its keeper, Christina, have visited.
Assuming the fruitcake survives this year, the goal is to have it passed onto a new family each winter.
This year, the ultimate goal of the traveling brick-like food item with eyes is to raise money and awareness for autism research and the WGN Neediest Kids Fund.
