Bobby Skafish, a veteran of Chicago rock radio for more than three decades, is returning to the afternoon-drive shift that made him famous.

Starting Monday, Skafish will host from 3 to 8 p.m. weekdays on Bonneville International classic hits WDRV-FM (97.1). Skafish, who most recently was a part-time host on the Drive, is best known for his 19-year run on CBS adult rock WXRT-FM (93.1).

The move reunites Skafish with Bob Stroud, midday host at the Drive. In the '80s at classic rock WLUP-FM (97.9), Stroud hosted middays, and Skafish afternoons.

"I'm the happiest guy in radio," Skafish said of his new job. "The Drive is a fabulous station -- one I've admired from across the street for many years."

As afternoon host, he replaces Phil Manicki, who is expected to shift to evenings. Evening host Christine Moran leaves the Drive.

"Since our humble beginning more than six years ago, we've had the most consistent prime-time lineup of talent on the airwaves," said Greg Solk, vice president of programming and operations for Bonneville Radio. "But the opportunity to add Bobby Skafish, a Chicago treasure, to our daily lineup was too hard to pass up. Bobby's rich musical knowledge, matched with his unique and quick wit, will be the perfect complement to the Drive's already stellar lineup."
