I think Garry did much better today than he did yesterday. Yesterday he was obviously nervous and calmed down in hours 2 and 3. He has always been a great sidekick but not that strong on his own so if they build a show around him with good guests and support, we could really have something here. He didn't need the 50K blower yesterday in hour one, he was screaming loud enough already. WGN already has someone who screams everything at you..Nick Digilio and I agree, if he was a shoe-in for that slot, they would've done it already.
Speaking of Nick, I don't think he's all that good in the afternoons. He isn't polished enough IMO. I used to listen to him more and found him more than I do now but he has become very self-serving over the last few years and comes across condescending to his audience. When he reviews certain movies, he has to talk about how much flack he's going to get from people about his review. I don't care. I just want to hear his thoughts on the movie, not what other people think about his thoughts on the movie. He constantly calls attention to himself and then says he's 'humbled' when people react. Aside from pop culture, he's just not that strong of a personality. The echo effect that he sometimes uses and the long passages of him laughing at himself for something that wasn't funny in the first place has grown old. I agree, he is probably destined for the overnights which is OK. I don't want the guy to lose his job but on afternoons in a full time capacity?? Forget it. Again, just my opinion.
