Woody Crane, the broadcasting pioneer who was chief engineer of Trib-owned Channel 9 and news/talk WGN-AM (720), died Feb. 19 in Kansas City. He was 93.
The winner of numerous Emmy Awards for engineering and sports coverage, Mr. Crane was involved in the first Telstar Communications Satellite broadcast of baseball in 1962.
