WFLD-TV's Patrick Elwood honored for St. Baldrick's charity work

WFLD-Ch. 32 anchor Patrick Elwood and his wife, Katie, have been named special honorees for the South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade, set for March 15, in recognition of their work with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Elwood leads the Fox Chicago Schools Challenge, which has helped to raise more than $1.5 million over the last two years for St. Baldrick's, which benefits childhood cancer research. Volunteers have their heads shaved in a show of solidarity with children with cancer, while friends and family donate money in support.

Fox-owned Channel 32 plans to air a half-hour St. Baldrick's special on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. A video contest for students is being conducted on the station's foxjox.com Web site, encouraging students to create and upload a video of the St. Baldrick’s efforts at their school.
