This isn't really locally newsworthy, but what the hay. Katie Couric would really be what CBS needs to finally do something with their horrible morning show history. Hell, bring back Bryant Gumbel too haha. Her evening show blows.
In a morale boost to staff at CBS' "The Early Show," executive producer Shelley Ross' reign there has ended after just six turbulent months.
Rick Kaplan, executive producer of "The CBS Evening News With Katie Couric," will run the morning show, splitting his time between the two shows until a permanent successor can be found.
"Rick has built an exceptionally strong senior team there, and the broadcast will be in very capable hands until he returns full time to the 'Evening News,'" CBS News boss Sean McManus said in a statement.
Whether this means more breakfast-hour airtime for a certain evening anchor with a history of some success in the morning remains to be seen.
