WKQX's local music showcase, Local 101, has just released its newest charity CD, "Local 101 - Vol. 3." The CD is being sold through all Chicagoland Borders stores. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go to benefit Chicago Hopes (Heightening Opportunity and Potential for Educational Success).

Local 101 and host Chris Payne will be doing a series of CD Release Parties. The parties will each feature bands from the new CD. The first one is this Friday night (3/20) at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. This Friday, you can join Chris Payne and see Janus and The Attraction. (Non-CD artist, Heavy The Fall will open the show.) The Cubby Bear doors will open at 9:00pm for this event. The second CD Release Party will be at the Cubby Bear on Thursday the 26th.
Out of the major radio stations in Chicago, only Q101's Local 101 and WXRT's Local Anesthetic spotlight local music, giving needed exposure to indie & unsigned Chicago artists. Support these programs!
