Emmy Award-winning actress Betty White drew a crowd and some laughs at the Palmer House Hilton earlier this week for a brunch benefiting the Museum of Broadcast Communications.
Along with video highlights of the Oak Park native's long career--including clips from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Golden Girls," "Match Game" and "Password"--audience members got to throw out questions.
Asked whether she's ever "Googled" herself, Ms. White, 87, responded that she did not know how to turn on a computer.
Melissa Forman, the morning personality for WLIT FM Radio and an emcee of the event, said "I could get you hooked up before you leave Chicago."
Without skipping a beat, Ms. White said, "If I can get 'hooked up,' then forget about the computer."
The crowd roared.
Among the names in attendance, real estate property-tax consultant Stella Black; WGN's George Pappas, Dean Richards and Steve Dale; Clear Channel's Angela Ingram; civic leader Kathy Posner; and Associate Circuit Court Judge Gloria Coco.
