It's a Chicago homecoming for radio guru Lee Abrams, who has been named chief innovation officer for Tribune Co.
In the new position, Abrams will work on Tribune publishing, broadcasting and interactive units. He was hired by longtime friend and colleague Randy Michaels, president of Tribune Broadcasting and Interactive.
Credited with creating album-oriented rock as a radio format and fostering the careers of Howard Stern and Steve Dahl, the broadcast media consultant most recently was senior vice president/chief creative officer of XM Satellite Radio.
Abrams, 55, who grew up on Chicago radio in south suburban Homewood-Flossmoor, first made his mark here on WLUP-FM (97.9) in the 1970s.
