I hope North gets advertisers to stay, because it will mean that he is nailing the one metric that matters: results for his advertisers. It won't be about PPM or any other ratings. It will be: did the cash register ring as direct result of advertising on North's show/website. If he succeeds, he will take radio to school in the process. Somewhere, soon, some station or group of stations in a significant market will say to hell with Arbitron, PPM, Nielsen, or anything else and will simply choose to do great local programming and achieve superior results for local advertisers. If, in the process, they pin the ratings meter and score agency and national business, they'll count it as bonus.
I think North is hungry enough, driven enough, and has a sufficient chip on his shoulder to pull it off with his webio site. Kudos to him for trying.
