WGN-AM to fill Paul Harvey slots with own local content; report says WLS-AM's Roe Conn launching 'Roe Report'
WGN-AM 720 plans to inform ABC Radio that it will not pick up the syndicated segments with Gil Gross and Doug Limerick that the network is offering in place of Paul Harvey's long-standing Chicago-based programs.

Without Harvey, who died Feb. 28 at age 90, Chicago Tribune parent Tribune Co.'s station plans to air more of its own local content in the 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. hours. "There is only one Paul Harvey," explained Tom Langmyer, WGN-AM vice president and general manager.

In related news, Tom Taylor of Radio-Info.com reported in his daily newsletter this morning that another entry in the "post-Paul Harvey 'news and commentary'" genre from ABC Networks will be WLS-AM 890 afternoon star Roe Conn, with "his short morning" pieces making their debut possibly as soon as next week.

Spokesmen for ABC Radio and Citadel Broadcasting's WLS-AM could not be reached for comment. Taylor reports early clearances for the "Roe Report" include WLS-AM's Citadel sister station WABC-AM in New York flagship.
