Going local
Clear Channel Communications' urban contemporary station WGCI-FM (107.5) is going local with its new morning drive show that begins April 1. Called "The Morning Riot," the show will feature WGCI's current afternoon drive host Tony Sculfield, as well as Nina Chantele who is heard on sister Clear Channel station WKSC-FM (103.5) where she also hosts the midday show. Chantele will continue to host middays on WKSC, in addition to new morning drive duties on WGCI. Joining Chantele and Sculfield on "The Morning Riot" will be Leon Rogers, who hosts "Go Getta Radio" with Frankie Robinson from 6 to 10 p.m. weekdays on WGCI. Art Porter will serve as producer of "The Morning Riot," a role he has filled on and off on WGCI and WVAZ-FM (102.7) morning and afternoon drive shows for 15 years.
The show appears designed to resemble the syndicated Steve Harvey show that Clear Channel abruptly moved from WGCI to sister station WVAZ this week to replace the "Tom Joyner Morning Show."
