The management of WGN radio WISELY turned the HD carrier off because it degrades the analog AM signal, which of course all but about three of it's listeners use to hear the station.
Stations like WBBM and the WSCR realize this, but locally can not turn off their HD signal because parent company CBS is part owner of Ibiquity and thus would make money if HD radio becomes sucessful (which will never happen).
: Anyone know what's happened to WGN's digital component? I'm not complaining; just curious. I like to listen to analog AM with a wide bandwidth receiver so I welcome the dropping of the HD even if it is temporary.
