Johnson was a media mogul based here in Chicago. Included in the company's portfolio is Johnson Publishing Company (Ebony, Jet, etc.).
After a bit of research...he did not own 103.5. He owned 106.3 (then WLNR, now WSRB) he also purchased WGRT am950 and renamed it WJPC (now WNTD).

: Before the Blaze FYR was an oldies station - automated Solid Gold Rock and Roll from Drake-Chenault- It was owned by RKO, (who also ran a bar/dance club called "The FYR Station. RKO paid a million dollars to Frank Kovas for it. It was the highest amount of money anyone ever paid for an fm station. Kovas ran WKFM, a semi-classical music format, with a few select sponsors like "The House of Mena" a furniture store.
