NBC/Telemundo's WSNS-Channel 44 is being credited with helping authorities capture a suspect in the murder of a 14-year-old Chicago girl.
A profile of fugitive Eduardo Cruz on Channel 44 news' "Crimenes Sin Resolver" ("Unsolved Crimes") segment led to his arrest in Mexico Friday.
He had been the subject of an international manhunt after the murder of Rosie Irineo, the unintended victim of a gang-related drive-by shooting in 1998.
Esteban Creste, Channel 44 news director, said the ongoing segment "empowers our viewers to help us get convicted criminals off the street and help the victims' families to find some closure to their tragedy."
