White Sox Opener Posts Huge TV Ratings on CSN
Chicago, IL (April 8, 2009) – Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the defending AL Central Division champion Chicago White Sox in HD, delivered big television ratings for yesterday afternoon’s 2009 White Sox regular season/home opener (April 7) -- a 3.23 household rating for its live coverage of the team’s AL Central match-up against the Kansas City Royals.
Comcast SportsNet attracted approx. 113,000 households for the entire game and scored a 4.24 peak rating during the 3:15 PM quarter-hour (over 148,000 households). The 3.23 household rating is the highest White Sox “season opener” game rating in Chicago regional sports network television history (previous high on April 4, 2005 vs. Cleveland - 2.38 rating on Comcast SportsNet). Source for all ratings information is provided by Nielsen Media Research overnights.
Comcast SportsNet was also the #1-highest rated television network in the Chicago market yesterday afternoon for the entire length of the game and U.S. Cellular White Sox Post Game Live (1:00-4:15 PM) for the key advertiser demo rating of Adults 18-49 (1.24 rating). The network was also #1 in the Chicago market in the demo categories of Men 18-34, Men 18-49 & Men 25-54 from 12:00-4:15 PM, which included Feldco White Sox Pre-Game Live, the Sox-KC game telecast and U.S. Cellular White Sox Post Game Live.
Comcast SportsNet’s next White Sox telecast takes place on Thursday, April 9 vs. Kansas City with coverage beginning at 12:30 PM on Feldco White Sox White Sox Pre-Game Live (first pitch at 1:05 PM).
