Two hours - less commercials and network casts - is way too short to sum up 85 years, but Jeff Davis put a nice package together.
He is one hell of an audio historian for the station. Most of the elements have been heard on previous anniversary broadcasts, but it's always a treat to hear them all together again.
The history and respect that the call letters possess by radio aficionados make me proud to be a life-long Chicagoan having lived through better than 65% of its lifetime as a farm/rock/talk station.
To those who missed it, I hope they podcast it. Jeff kept away from controversies like Biondi's departure, Lujack's comings and goings, the rock wars between 'LS and 'CFL, Steve and Garry, Roe and Garry, Rush, etc. A little heavier on Landecker than should have been to squeeze in talent like Fred and Yvonne, but a great listen.
Thanks, Jeff and WLS for the memories.
