"It's done!" says a gleeful WMMS/Cleveland PD Bo Matthews, moments after former CBS rival "Rover's Morning Glory" finally debuted on Clear Channel air Tuesday morning (April 1). "We have entered a new era of WMMS and everyone's excited about the new lineup: Rover from 6-11 a.m.; Bob and Tom from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Maxwell from 3-7 p.m., and we're still rockin' at night with Big Rig," Matthews tells R&R.
It has been well-documented that Rover, a.k.a. Shane French, left CBS rival WKRK (K-Rock) in February. Amazingly, he didn't have a non-compete in Cleveland, so Clear Channel pounced. For the past two weeks, Rover had been warming up in the bullpen, as it were, broadcasting his show online at wmms.com and on HD-2, as well as his two existing Entercom affiliates, WZNE (Zone @ 94.1)/Rochester, N.Y., and WMFS (93X)/Memphis.
