49 years ago today, WLS went "rock n' roll."

I used to like hearing the birthday specials. Don't know when the first one was, but the earliest I'm aware of is 1976. In fact, there are some airchecks floating around. Really liked the 17th birthday special that Bob Sirott put together in 1977. He did a good job of playing music from the early days, airchecks, memories from the former jocks, and tying it all together.

I'm not from Chicago, but WLS came booming in to where I lived day and night. One of the greatest stations ever.

Any WLS Musicradio memories?
