Eddie, thank you for posting this update. I checked up on Erica on her new station and I can say that she learned a lot from you two. It has been an eternity not having some descent morning show to listen to since you left the air. Like many loyal listeners, I have listen to your show since you two got together in the 80s and I missed you while I was in Florida for Six years in the mid 90s and missed your first departure from the station. I was very happy when you guys came back and enjoyed every day since then, but now again we have to make due some other way.
Please keep us posted on where and when you return..
Please say "Hola" to Jobo for me and Erica if you talk to her.

Thanks,

: What Happened to Eddie, Jobo & Erica?

: -------------------------------------

:
: Hey to all the long-time fans of Eddie & Jobo, as well as newer fans of Eddie, Jobo and Erica.
: Shortly after we left the air a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, 2008, I posted a bulletin on Myspace detailing why we were taken off the air after slightly over 20 years as the morning show. Many of you read it and commented back, but to this day--including today--I still get multiple e-mails, facebook and myspace messages (even Twitterers!) asking "What happened?"

: So, in a nutshell, let me recant the whole thing for you:
: Jobo and I were in the final year of a huge 7-year contract. When the contract was signed in the Summer of 2002 economic times were good and the deal seemed beneficial for all parties involved. A much-attended press conference was broadcast from the Channel 2, CBS studios, and there was much rejoicing! (yayyy)

: As the stock market fell and financial times worsened, big names in radio and television whose contracts escalated each year became less cost-efficient, and the dominos began to fall. Gone were the likes of Mancow Muller, Mike North, Diane Burns, Pat Cassidy(although Pat and Mancow have re-emerged together on WLS-AM), and eventually, Eddie, Jobo, Erica and Steve Dahl. ESPN Radio, AM1000 recently decided not to renew Dan MacNeil as well.

: SOME of us, Jobo and I included, were fortunate enough to be taken off the air while still under contract, and are getting paid to the full length of our respective deals--this means I still get the same salary and paycheck for 8 months, and I'm technically still "employed" by B96 and CBS Radio, with full benefits, 401K, etc. It's actually pretty cool, except the not being on the air part.

: Although I'm happiest actually BEING on the radio and talking to you great people, and even though our agent says there have been inquiries from other stations in Chicago about when we could work for them, any contact or negotiations with other stations would negate our current deal with CBS. B96 was our home and our family and have been great to us since our "off-air" day, so we're honoring our side of the deal as they are theirs.

: My wife and I are big travelers, so we've been to Las Vegas and Phoenix recently, and will soon leave for Hawaii! I may never have this much time off until retirement, so why not live it up? Oh--and for those who know where I live, my house will be guarded by our two new 6-ft. Rottweilers who haven't eaten in a week or so! LOL!

: Jobo's a private guy when not on the air, so he's relaxing at his normally "weekend" house and doing around the house projects. He sends all his love and thanks to everyone who asks about him/us and wants to assure everyone "Eddie & Jobo are not done yet! We have another big blast yet to come for Chicago Radio!"

: Erica's contract was up at the end of December, so she was quickly scooped up as morning co-host on "Alice" 105.9 in Denver! Go show how Chi-Town does it, Erica! You can hear her online 6am to 11am our time at Alice1059.com She started on Monday Jan. 26th and she's already ALL over their website! What a great station!

: That's about it for now. Share this with friends and if enough people are interested I'll update it regularly and keep you posted on what everyone's doing and where you can catch us next!

: In the meantime, I still LOVE my city! You'll see me at Bulls, Bears, Hawks Cubs and even WhiteSox games (a lot of that stuff was for the radio), as well as clubs, movies, dining out, and still shopping like a "Sex-and the City" chick! Ha Ha!

: Much love to all!

: Eddie V.
: "B963EddieV" on Facebook and Twitter, too
