This isn't really surprising. WLS has been on this road for sometime now. Weekend programming is unlistenable except for a few exceptions. Saturday mornings before JT Fox, Bob Brinker and the Sunday evening shows are the only good ones.
With Agar, and the "News Junkie" on WGN weekends, I will be listening to that station over WLS more times than not.
The problem with the "Where Chicago comes to talk" slogan is, you call up Mancow or Don Wade, you're lucky if you get 15 or 20 seconds of talk time before your hung up on. Whatever WLS is doing for them now, it's working since their weekday ratings are excellent. Don/Wade, Rush, Conn, Hannity and Levin is a solid lineup for a conservative. Beyond that, the station is crap, but that doesn't matter, because the station makes their money around their weekday lineup. The fact that the news department is almost a joke (not knocking those who are working there... it's just a joke of how small it is), has not caught up to WLS yet - and it may not matter.
