After a year of working both morning and night on the air in two major markets, Jerry Agar finally belongs to Chicago alone.

After tonight, Agar will give up his second job as evening host on WABC-AM in New York and work full-time as midday host on news/talk WLS-AM (890). Both stations are owned by Citadel Broadcasting.

While the opportunity to star on two of the country's premier talk stations was too good to pass up, Agar's dual role left little time to spend with his wife and three children, ages 15, 12 and 8.

Phil Boyce, WABC's program director, said Agar did a great job of hosting his evening show from Chicago but making it sound as local as any from New York.

Speculation centers on Bob Grant, a veteran New York talker, replacing Agar on WABC.

Agar said he's eager to get home at a decent hour, but even more excited about boosting the WLS show he hosts with Maura Myles from 9 to 11 a.m. weekdays.

"I'm just approaching this as an opportunity to do a better show for Chicago," he said.
