I'm 24 and have been a Dahl fan for only a few years. After 'CKG and O&A left, I was able to turn numerous friends onto Steve. I heard Garry when he was with Roe so I decided to give him a shot when he was on 'CKG and now on 'GN. While I don't LOVE his show, I think it's entertaining enough. I don't think it's a long shot to assume that Dahl would be able to gain new, younger fans. I'm sure Garry has.
It's probably crazy to speculate about it since we're years away from any answer. But, Dahl's countdown clock has been removed, so maybe I am crazy.
: So WGN is looking to attract a younger audience....good idea. Why is it that everyone is now excited that Steve Dahl can be making a comeback? Many things worked in the past, but times have changed. The 20-30 somethings that liked Steve and Gary then are now becoming the older demographic they say they are trying to get away from.
: I don't necessarily think Gary Meier was a bad move, but Steve Cochran does well where he is and with this post it seems like everyone is looking at him to move so that a recycled Chicago Talk Show host can go do his shtick at another radio station.
: If your going to go younger with your audience, I am for it....but don't recycle jocks from the past. I know his numbers were big (and probably would be out of the box), but as time goes on, it becomes the same thing that people complain about on here.
: With that said, I do like the lineup WGN has right now (although I was wondering what happened to Sports Central a week ago)? You want a younger audience yet take off a show on the flagship station of the Cubs and Blackhawks. I have been busy so it may be back on....
