I've always thought that Spike Odell never got the credit he deserved for taking over the morning show under the WORST of circumstances and keeping it #1 for as long as he did.

: I wonder what WGN Radio would be like today if Bob Collins was still alive? Would the station be in such disarray and looking for an identity? Would we be talking about WGN Radio "needing to get younger"?

: Or... would Collins' numbers have taken a huge hit with the new PPM just as WGN Radio's numbers have taken a hit overall?

: It seemed "back in day" when Wally Phillips was still there, they were grooming Collins for that morning drive shift with Collins in the afternoon. I think WGN got caught with it's pants down in not having that next morning show host in waiting when Collins died. Then again, it was unexpected...
