Will it soon be Larry Lujack vs. Scott Shannon?!
: Earthworks Entertainment to Launch 24/7 Oldies Radio Network Featuring Super Jock Larry Lujack
: Earthworks Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it has signed an agreement with Hit Parade Radio, Inc. to launch a 24/7 Oldies Radio Network in Texas featuring Larry Lujack.
: Earthworks Entertainment is making an equity investment in the product and will be responsible for the operation and launch of the concept across the USA scheduled for September 2009.
: "I can't be happier than to work again with my long time friend John Rook in the development of the Oldies Network," said Earthworks CEO Steven Humphries. Rook and Humphries (then Steve Rivers) worked together at KROY in Sacramento in the late 1970s prior to Humphries joining the General Cinema radio group (former owners of Z-93 Atlanta, KRBE-Houston, WGCL, Cleveland, WIFI-Philadelphia and WEFM-Chicago) as the National Program Director.
: Rook added, "The oldies format will feature the legendary Larry Lujack in prime time morning drive who worked with me at WLS and WCFL in Chicago. The format will be based out of the DFW Metroplex, with offices and studios located there."
: Humphries added, "With the tough economic times ahead for the broadcast industry, providing a quality live music format targeted toward the 50+ audience (the same audience that embraces Rush Limbaugh), Hit Parade radio is a natural for broadcasters that are looking to cut cost, but at the same time provide a quality programming product."
: Rook commented, "On Hit Parade Radio, you'll hear artists that you don't hear on other popular oldies radio formats. Our target is the recession proof 50+ adult that has discretionary dollars to spend."
: Earthworks Entertainment is also in the process of negotiating an affiliate relations and sales agreement with a major radio network group to distribute Hit Parade Radio.
: Hit Parade Radio President John Rook said, "Hall of Fame inductee Larry Lujack was key to my success as a programmer. Steve Humphries (aka Steve Rivers) played a big role in my success as a consultant. Teaming them with others who have made major contributions to radio is a home run for the Hit Parade format."
: Rook further stated, "We will be announcing additional major, national recognized on-air talent in the near future."
: Earthworks management expects to sign more than 100 stations in the first 12 to 18 months, which will generate more than $5.0 million in revenue for the Hit Parade Radio Network. For a demo of the programming log onto www.earthworksentertainment.com
