There was a lady that called in this morning to WLS and said that she can hear all the night time shows and at 5:07 (6:07 her time) the signal just goes to static, so as they discussed this it was revealed that they went HD at 5:07 so I guess if your on the fringe areas this knocks down the AM signal?

I had an HD for one day and took it back as it constantly dropped out or froze and then dropped to FM then as it built a buffer it would then switch to HD then start the dropping out bit again and repeat. It went right back in the box and back to the store. I'm sure I'm not alone with my experience.
