"HOWEVER - My question: Does WGN's New Management really think becoming a WLS clone is in their best interest?"
Last time I checked, WLS is doing well... very well, and that is with an ok lineup.
I say, Don Wade and Roma are decent, not everyone's cup of tea (Don Wade would be better solo, I think). I've spoken about Mancow enough times, so I won't repeat. Rush, you either love him or hate him... same with Roe. Weekends... I could have a show on that station if I had the money, so there.
WGN, with all Chicago programming, can become better than WLS, at least for those who enjoy serious news-talk that includes politics. My recommendation to WGN though is not to become all conservative. Mix it up with different opinions.
As for Kathy and Judy, I have said I don't wish for anyone to lose their jobs. However, they were told about this three weeks ago. They have had plenty of time to mentally prepare for this. They have made a lot of money the last 20 years and have enjoyed a tremendous wealth of success. They probably knew this was their last run, even if the news three weeks ago was a complete shock to them. They will be ok.
