On a car radio as well as my handheald radio when the antenna is pointed in the right direction WLFM-LP actually mixes in with WITI Milwaukee in Kenosha (60 miles north) and WITI is a full power TV station on channel 6.
It has 3kw ontop of the Hancock building average Chicago FM station on the Hancock is about the same power output. I cannot get the station on a TV, so I'm guessing the audio portion goes a bit farther.
In the north suburbs such as Gurnee you can also get WLFM mixing with WITI Milwaukee.
It should be known that the analogue shutoff is in a couple weeks so WITI won't be on 87.7 any longer leaving WLFM free from mixing.
Also, if you want to hear the Smooth Jazz Network, you can check out WJZX Milwaukee www.smoothjazz1069.com (streams there) WPPN's IBOC hashes away at their signal so I'm guessing a lot of people listen to their stream.
