For people who are interested in media (you know, those of us who visit this board), this will be a very noticeable change.
Will it affect the overall newscast? No.
I always liked the current Channel 7 News voiceover guy. I do believe that poor voiceover guys can affect how a station is perceived. For example, I know I am in the minority with this, but I've never been fond of the WSCR The Score voiceover guy (who also does FX and CBS TV).
One of the worst, though, in my opinion, is the person who does WIND. He is awful, I think.
Good ones include Jim Culter, who voices ESPN Radio and ESPN 1000, WLS, the old WCKG, and JACK-FM (especially JACK FM).
