Lincoln College Honors Rowe with Alumni Award
Lincoln, IL – April 25, 2008– WLS radio personality and talk show host Deborah Lea Rowe will be honored with an Alumni Achievement Award in Communications at the annual Lincoln College Alumni Reunion Dinner on Saturday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Sheffer Gymnasium on the campus of Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois.
Rowe earned an Associate in Arts degree from Lincoln College in 1979.
She continued her education at Columbia University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV Production.
Lincoln College President John Hutchinson said he feels this honor is long overdue. "Lincoln College has helped many individuals with the foundation of their education. Deborah has excelled in the communications field and should be recognized for her many accomplishments. I am certain that she is most deserving of this award and I'm proud to bestow the honor," said Hutchinson.
Rowe started her career in radio sales at WBEE where she learned how to effectively market her client's products. In the mid 80's, an opportunity opened in the Office of Consumer Goods for the City of Chicago where she accepted the position as a Public Affairs Manager. She would later be promoted to the Director of Consumer Education where she successfully managed two citywide programs, including the popular Farmer's Market. Since 1994, Rowe has been a trusted and recognized voice on WLS in Chicago. She has made several appearances on "Chicago Tonight" and CNN's "Talk Back Live." A seasoned and respected public speaker; she recently was the featured speaker for the LaLeche League International's Annual Convention. In 2004 she was honored by the Illinois Broadcasters Association earning the Silver Circle Award for Best Team Coverage. She serves on the board of the Autism Society of Illinois and is an editorial board member for The Chicago Daily Observer.
