Have a business idea, Chicago? 'Shark Tank' auditions
Chicago Now Staff Writer Curt Wagner on 06.01.09
Do you think you've come up with a great idea for a product everyone in America will want? Do you need a hand launching a new business venture? Are you looking to get rich quick?
ABC isn't promising anything, but the network will give budding entrepreneurs the chance to live their dreams with its new reality series "Shark Tank." The show is looking for "entrepreneurs, inventors, businesspersons, dreamers, promoters, creators and innovators" who think they have a lucrative business idea to audition.
If you make it on the show, which will premiere later this summer, you will have to pitch your "business concepts, products, properties and services to moguls in hopes of landing investment funds." Five investors will act as judges on the series--dumping their own cash into whatever investment they find worthy. They also will own a piece of the project.
ABC casting directors will be in Chicago on June 13 to meet with auditioners. If you have an idea, you have two ways to apply for "Shark Tank," ABC says:
* E-mail ABC at SharkTankCasting@yahoo.com. Be sure to include your name, age, contact info, a recent photo (no larger than 1 MB) and a brief description of your idea.
* You also can apply by attending one of our open calls. This is your opportunity to meet face to face with the "Shark Tank" casting teams. Download and complete the application at ABC's Web site, and bring it with you. Plan to arrive early. Be advised that security may check your bag and you are responsible for your own parking. We do not validate. For more information and terms and conditions go to abc.com.
