I think it is interesting to hear the story of how he felt when he knew the authorities were zeroing in on him and such. Sometimes, it's interesting to hear the viewpoints of a thief -- helps put you in the mind set of how some of our current politicians act and think.
You shouldn't just write him off. You seemed to have your mind made up before ever turning him on, so you don't seem to care if he has anything valuable to say. Just because he did some bad things, doesn't meant he is unworthy of having anything valuable to contribute to conversation.
And of course, WGN, I assume, did this to keep some listeners. They didn't really go out of their way in promoting this, but nevertheless, I have enjoyed the bits I've heard.
