AM 560 WIND's John and Cisco Welcome WGN's Greg Jarrett to Chicago
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AM 560 WIND's morning team of John Howell and Cisco Cotto want to formally welcome WGN radio's new morning man Greg Jarrett to town. John and Cisco understand how hard it can be for an out-of-towner to feel comfortable in Chicago, so they have taken it upon themselves to put together a little welcome package to help Greg with his transition. Below is the note that they sent along in the package --

Dear Greg --

Glad you decided to relocate to Chicago after so many years in San Francisco and Portland. We're sure you're excited about working at WGN. By now, we're sure you're aware that WGN has only had 4 morning show hosts in the last 44 years. That must be a lot of pressure for you. The last guy only lasted six months, but we're sure you'll be fine.

It may not have come up in the hiring process, so we wanted to make sure you knew that, like many companies these days, WGN's parent company the Tribune filed for bankruptcy last year. You may want to ask for some of your paychecks in cash. That can sometimes be a problem in this business. Just ask the guys who worked with ChicagoSportsWebio.com.

We've put together a little welcome package to help you get your start in the big city. Here's what you'll find enclosed:

* A map of Chicago. It can be tough to get around in our fair city. Learn the names of the expressways and tollways, not just the numbers. You also want to make sure you know how to correctly pronounce Paulina, Goethe, and Honore. And remember -- the lake is always to the east.

* A Cubs hat and a Sox hat. You have to pick just one. Don't try to be like so many radio goofs who try to ride the fence. Declare your loyalty and send back whichever one you don't choose. Remember, the Trib won't own the Cubs forever, so don't feel like you have to choose the Cubs.

* A bottle of yellow mustard. This is what you put on your hot dogs, among other things, including chopped onion, relish, peppers, and a Kosher dill pickle. You know what's missing? Ketchup. We don't put that on our hot dogs.

* An ice scraper. You'll need this from Veterans' Day through Memorial Day. Learn how to use it. Make sure you've also got a sturdy kitchen chair to save your parking spot.

* A CTA pass. Learn how to use the L. That's what it's called. Not the subway or the Metro or anything else.

* A copy of The Blues Brothers. Learn to love it.

We hope this will start your journey to becoming an authentic Chicagoan. If you have any questions, we would suggest that you call one of the last out-of-towners who tried to make it in morning radio in this town, but Rover didn't leave a forwarding address.

If you need any help getting around town, we'd love to help you out. Send us an e-mail at johnandcisco.com. Welcome to town!
