: Bernstein just said that starting on Monday, Les Grobstein will be on from 1am-5am on the Score leading into Mully and Hanley. Thoughts?

The hiring of Grobstein for overnights, I would guess, has more to do with the station of hoping to capture the stigma they had years ago. Dan McNeil and now Grobstein, those are two significant old faces now returning to their old homes.

It's more of resorting to their old identity and not a "our current bench can't handle their own show." This is the direction the station is going now.

With the Score getting whomped in the ratings by ESPN 1000, putting a live Chicago overnight show creates a sense of goodwill among listeners. Now, people have more of a reason to keep 670 on, far more than ESPN 1000 during almost all the dayparts. Will it work? I don't know, but I think the move makes sense.

It doesn't mean that the current backups are not worthy of holding their own show. You are entitled to your opinion, but the fact that there are many Matt Abbatcola, Jason Goff and Brian Paruch fans begs to differ. Not all those people are stupid. Furthermore, all of those names are far more worthy of having an evening show over Laurence Holmes.
