Fans & employees of Chicago's 2 full-time sports stations are pretty much concerned with one key demo: Males aged 25-54. For the May PPM ratings, here is how the two stations fared head-to-head:
Overall ratings for Mondays-Sundays from 6:00am-Midnight:
WMVP - 4.1 share - 7th place (tie)
WSCR - 2.6 share - 17th place (tie)
The morning drive time of 6:00am-10:00am for Mondays-Fridays:
WMVP - 5.0 share - 4th place (tie)
WSCR - 2.7 share - 16th place
Middays, from 10:00am-3:00pm for Monday-Fridays:
WMVP - 4.5 share - 7th place
WSCR - 3.1 share - 12th place (tie)
The afternoon drive time slot of 3:00pm-7:00pm for Monday-Fridays:
WMVP - 4.7 share - 7th place
WSCR - 2.5 share - 17th place (tie)
Evening numbers for 7:00pm-Midnight for Monday-Friday:
WMVP - 4.3 share - 7th place
WSCR - 2.2 share - 18th place (tie)
For weekends from 6:00am-Midnight:
WMVP - 2.7 share - 16th place (tie)
WSCR - 2.7 share - 16th place (tie)
What was once a tight race with WSCR winning the majority of the races, has turned into a very one-sided battle in the last few months, with WMVP winning easily. Expect next month's PPM ratings to look very similar to these. We are still a couple of months away before we can see if WSCR's addition of Dan McNeil will breathe some life into The Score and help boost the station back up where it once was.
