ESPN, Huffington Post announce partnership for their Chicago sites
ESPN's Chicago Web site and the Huffington Post's Chicago site have announced a partnership to share branded headline feeds on each other's sites.
The deal, described in the announcement from the two sites as "an exclusive content syndication agreement," does not in fact exclude content or links to content from other sources, according to spokespeople from ESPN and the Huffington Post.
The announcement said ESPN's Chicago site "will be the exclusive provider of sports content to HuffPost Chicago, including breaking news, opinion and sports calendars." But if better content can be linked or aggregated from elsewhere, huffingtonpost.com/chicago remains free to do so despite the agreement, representatives of the two sites confirmed.
Huffington Post news headlines now can be found near the lower right corner of the home page at espn.go.com/chicago below those of WLS-Ch. 7. The ESPN Chicago links can be found on the right side of the middle of the Huffington Post's Chicago home page, above branded content modules from Time Out Chicago, as well as WMAQ-Ch. 5 and its NBC Chicago Web site.
No cash is changing hands in the ESPN and Huffington Post partnership.
