WCRX Awarded Gold World Medal for Best Student Radio Station
The prestigious New York Festivals 2009 Radio Programming & Promotion Awards committee has awarded the Gold World Medal to WCRX 88.1 FM for "Best Student Radio Station". For its winning 2009 entry, WCRX submitted a 30-minute audio montage of public service announcements and original programming that included the station's Presidential Election Night coverage, a multi-platform public service broadcast promoting Green initiatives and the "Holly Jolly Trolley" annual fundraiser and live broadcast for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

For 52 years the New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotions Awards has recognized the "World's Best Work" in radio broadcasting.
