(Chicago, IL) -- Mike Peck, the radio play-by-play voice of the IceHogs is in the Cook County Hospital tonight. He was taken there Thursday after he collapsed and fell unconscious while he was attending the Blackhawks' summer prospect camp.

The Blackhawks' team doctors rushed to his aid when he collapsed. Peck was then rushed to the hospital. The situation was quite serious Thursday, but IceHogs' president Mark Bernard told WTVO Friday evening that Peck is doing better now.

"He's been more alert, and he's been responding to questions from the doctors and from members of his family," said Bernard.

Out of privacy for Peck, Bernard wouldn't say what medical condition caused Peck to be rushed to the hospital. Bernard says the Blackhawks' team doctor is overseeing Peck. And Bernard says more medical tests will be run on Peck Saturday.

Peck has been with the IceHogs for eight seasons. He is 30 years old. He has a wife and a young daughter.

Members of his family want to thank the fans who have already expressed their concern for Peck.
