: Emmis Communications on Thursday (May 1) announced the creation of a senior VP of sales position in its radio division, which will be filled by Terry Hardin, most recently VP and GM of Spanish Broadcasting System regional Mexican WLEY/Chicago.
: Hardin will remain in Chicago and work from Emmis' classic rock WLUP and alternative WKQX offices. Starting on May 12, he will oversee sales strategy and execution for the company's seven radio markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, Austin, Indianapolis and Terre Haute, Ind.
: "We see this as a critical opportunity. Terry's leadership will be an important step in delivering the best solutions for advertisers," said radio division president Rick Cummings. "His history managing top-market stations demonstrates a great understanding of developing winning strategies and adjusting to changes in the business environment. He has successfully and repeatedly grown revenue in a flat-to-down market, and, most importantly, he has repeatedly helped his customers grow their businesses."
: "Emmis has a wonderfully collaborative and innovative culture. I'm looking forward to working with the local sales teams to maximize results and find new ways to create revenue," said Hardin. "We can leverage this company's agility to great competitive advantage."
: Hardin has also operated his own consulting firm and managed stations for CBS Radio, Clear Channel Radio and Chancellor Media Corporation.
Terry Hardin, who resigned after six months as vice president and general manager of Spanish Broadcasting System regional Mexican WLEY-FM (107.9), has been hired by Emmis Communications as senior vice president of sales.
He'll be based in Chicago at the offices of Emmis' classic rock WLUP-FM (97.9) and alternative rock WKQX-FM (101.1) and oversee sales in seven markets.
