Christian Farr leaves WTTW for WMAQ
Christian Farr is leaving public broadcaster WTTW-Ch. 11's "Chicago Tonight" for NBC-owned WMAQ-Ch. 5, where he will be a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor, effective Aug. 24.
The husband of ABC-owned WLS-Ch. 7 weekend anchor Karen Jordan and son-in-law of Tribune Co.'s WGN-Ch. 9 weekend anchor Robert Jordan, Farr has been a correspondent for "Chicago Tonight" since February 2006.
His move to Channel 5 returns him to the NBC family. A graduate of the University of Delaware, Farr got his start with CNBC as a tape producer for Geraldo Rivera's "Rivera Live."
Farr also worked at the East Coast-based Regional News Network, Cox-owned CBS affiliate WHIO-TV in Dayton, Ohio, and Philadelphia Fox-owned WTXF-TV, where he was a weekend anchor and reporter before coming to Chicago.
"I'm pleased to have Christian join NBC5 News" Frank Whittaker, WMAQ station manager and vice president of news, said in a statement.
Like WGN, the Chicago Tribune is owned by Tribune Co.
